10th Century Sandstone Parvati

A Gray Sandstone Figure of Parvati, Central India, Circa 10th Century AD. Upright, holding a gada in her left hand, wearing a necklace and large earrings, her hair drawn up into a complex jatamukuta.

Acquired by current owners of this collection at Ghirardelli Square in San Francisco from a sale of items from an English Stately Home to SPINK, London. Bought in 1997 from Folk Art International, sourced via Spink, London.
