A Ghandharan Gray Schist Figure of a Bodhisattva, Circa 3rd/4th Century AD. This Bodhisattva is seated in the Padmasana or lotus posture, holding a lotus in his left hand, wearing a dhoti, necklace, hair tied in a top-knot, with an attendant on his right.
Provenance – Acquired by current owners of this collection at Ghirardelli Square in San Francisco from a sale of items from an English Stately Home via Spink London. Bought in 1993 from Folk Art International.
