Kigelia Pinnata, Tempara, 1999, an exquisite botanical painting by Internationally acclaimed Jaipur Artist, Damodar Lal Gurjar. Part of the “Enduring Perfection” collection exhibited at the Hunt Institute of Botanical Documentation, Carnegie Mellon University, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in 2001. Damodar Lal Gurjar is influenced by the traditional school of painting from the desert state of Rajasthan, but his technique is a blend of the traditional and contemporary. In his studio, Gurjar works on a palette-covered table, with only a water pot, a small selection of sable and squirrel-hair brushes and often a combination of water colour and tempera paints.
